I Heart Blog

i heart nyc blogThank goodness for blogs. In many cases, the blog is the stepping stone between a boutique's non-existent e-commerce site and fully functional site. Case in point, I Heart's newly launched blog. According to I heart, their web-boutique is in the pipeline, but for now you can use the blog to check out new arrivals, events, etc. See something you must have? Call or email and the gals will ship to you.

Sneak Peek: JF and Son Winter '08

jf and son

jf and son
With two seasons under their belt and one on the horizon, JF & Son is definitely a designer on the rise to look out for. With that said, there isn't too much information about the line other than the pictures (which sometimes speak louder than words) and a great interview by Sheila Beckman. The designer and journalist chat about inspirations, the future, and the world's tallest buildings. JF and Son's winter collection is cleverly entitled "falling into." Click here for full interview. Stocklists are limited, but their site lists Eva NY as an account.

A Small Collection

I'm sure the lot of you are no stranger to Allyson Fox's most recent achievement, A Small Collection, but I wanted to dedicate a post before she officially becomes the most popular girl in school. The collection is 100% eco friendly: each piece is made with care from sustainable and recycled materials - such as buttons from fallen tree branches and organic zippers. Here are a few pieces just in at Anica.

Malia Mills

malia mills

Residing in San Francisco doesn't make shopping for swimsuits really 'practical'. Even though I haven't been to a beach that warrants sunbathing in over a year, and don't plan to any time soon, I'm buying one of Malia Mills' playful and flattering one pieces. Mills began her career back in '93 when Kathy Ireland graced the cover of Sports Illustrated wearing one of her designs. 6 stores later, she not only makes suits, but has expanded with a collection of clothing and accessories. What I like most about her suits- other than the perfect specimen pictured above- Mills designs for the every day women--her sizes go up to 16 and 40DD!

Sneak Peek: Mundi Fall/Winter '08

mundi
mundi
Mundi is a very new designer out of Iceland. The motivation behind the collection is a general nostalgia for the idea of a Utopian future where 'every one loves each other and flies around in cars.' Futuristic indeed. Each piece is bright, bold and outta this world. Notice a hint a la Bernhard Willhelm? Well, Maria Ziegelboek, the woman behind the lens of Willhelm's Men's fall '08 lookbook, shot this book as well. Sounds like Mundi is already making the right connections.
Stocklists are limited...Welcome Hunters is the only US store that stocks the line so far.

Lookbook: Whyred Spring/Summer '08

I can't keep track of all the amazing Swedish Designers out there. I value clean, simple, modern lines, and they provide this, but with an edge. Whyred, out of Stockholm, has been around since 1999 and is the brainchild of Roland Hjort, Lena Patriksson and Jonas Clason. While the collection is backed by three different minds, the general aesthetic maintains a consistency season after season. Here are some snapshots of their spring/summer '08 collection. The designer's website doubles as an e-commerce site, but for those in the US, the collection can be purchased online at Impulse Seattle.

New Arrivals: Devotte at Satine

devotte

I haven't heard too much about Devotte shoes since last spring, when they were all the rage. I was excited to see that Satine just received their 'special' spring shipment of Devottes, and I'm loving the looks of it...particularly the white studded sandal, which is the wondrous result of a collaboration between the boutique and designer. On a similar note, Satine is charting new waters with their just opened Tokyo Boutique, which will house the retailer's collaboration with one of my favorites, Society for Rational Dress.

New Arrivals: Diana Orving at Ooga Booga

diana orving
A nice, white, multifunctional top goes a long way. Diana Orving is yet another great designer out of Sweden. Her construction and ability to drape in the most inventive ways is amazing. Ooga Booga just received this blouse in white, AND black. Also just in, Opening Ceremony and SSWR.

Sneak Peek: Blank Jeans

blank jeans
blank jeans
blank jeans
Cheap Monday made their point: they're taking over the world of Cheap and fashion forward denim. H&M just bought 40% of the company, or something of the like, don't quote me on that one. I still buy a pair a season, but now there's some cheap competition. Blank denim aren't spring chickens, Daily Candy wrote about them last year...but this is the first I'm hearing of them. With a price hovering around 68 bucks, each pair is on trend, the washes are great and the fit is right on. Here are my favorites for fall '08. Urban Outfitters and American Rag stock the line, but these particular styles will be available toward the end of the summer at Anica.

New Arrivals: Commuun at Aloha Rag

aloha ragAloha rag just received a spring shipment from Commuun, their "newest obsession." The collection seems pretty simple, and elegant. Each piece appears to be incredibly well made and the fabric ultra luxurious. I just want to throw on this lengthy cardigan and never take it off...

"Look Book" is a new section of posts, similar to "Sneak Peeks", but instead of future seasons, we will post select pictures from the most current season's look books. Because, while 'Sneak Peeks" are still some of our favorite posts, its pretty exciting to see pictures of pieces from seasons you can actually buy NOW! For example, here are some favorites from Danish Born, Henrik Vibskov's spring/summer '08 collection, available for idolization, or purchase, here. With that said, stay tuned for a sneak peek of his fall/winter '08 lookbook...
