New Surface to Air at Oak

wedges
leather bag
Oak just received their most recent Surface to Air shipment, and these buckled wedges seem like a great way to spend your tax refund. If you have enough money left over, throw in the leather bag too. Happy tax day!

Don the Verb Spring '09

don the verb
You may recognize Don the Verb as Yanina Landsaat's vintage store on the Lower East Side, but since 2007 the name also applies to Yanina Landsaat's collection of drapy, sometimes unusual "uniform" inspired clothing. Yanina Landsaat started Don the Verb after meeting her design partner Hanna Astrom (a regular customer). Fall '08, entitled "Modern Warrior" was their debut collection, and they've since moved on to Spring '09, inspired by summer in the city and all its glory like: ice cream trucks, train announcements, black outs, brown outs and humidity. The fairly large collection subtly weaves in abstract details like lengths that do not equal and uneven sleeves. Click here for pictures of the complete collection (there's a lot more). Shop Fall '08 online at Oak.

Kristen Lee's Fall Footwear

kristen lee shoes
kristen lee shoes
kristen lee shoesWe featured two styles from Kristen Lee's Spring '08 collection of shoes a while back. We've been meaning to re-visit the line (we sometimes have to distance ourselves when drawn towards a collection, in sake of our tendency to overspend). Well, when a designer you love opens a fantastic accessories store in L.A., you can't help but dive in for more. If you haven't visited, please check out Kristen Lee's new boutique Ten Over Six. The day this shop starts selling online will be a glorious day, as well as troublesome -- really troublesome, just look at the designer roster. Check out Kristen Lee's A/W '08 collection, available at a slew of great stores and online at Oak(very limited stock left). Click here for a store near you.

Oak at Oak

oak
We've noticed a theme with many of our favorite house labels. Save for Opening ceremony, who has graduated into a full-blown collection of clothing and shoes, the collections created by many boutiques tend to consist of cotton tee's, tanks and dresses. Albeit fun and artistic takes on the ubiquitous jersey, which is of course a good thing. Here are two pieces just posted online at Oak. We're loving the slash pocket tank on the right.

Mary Meyer

Mary Meyer is a former Californian (go Oakland!) designer, turn Brooklyn resident. My experience with her collection began recently when I set eyes on Spring '08 (pictured above). I love her easy going prints and color combinations - they're original yet familiar, particularly the over sized 'snake dance' tee. Meyer started her collection in '05 and is already stocked at many Style Bite favorites, like Oak in NY and online. I can't wait to see what's in store for fall '08...I'll keep you posted.
