At first thought, a degree in Architecture might not be the most rational first step into a jewelry design career, but for Eugenie Huang of Deka Ray, her experiments with shape and materials are of course a direct reflection of her experience with the trade. Huang began her love affair with jewelry as a child and only revisited it as a career path after graduating from M.I.T. with a B.A. in Architecture. I love her deviation from stones, and subsequent use of materials such as rope and wood, as well as oxidized silver(a style bite favorite). Shop her collection online at Gargyle.
