Portland just wrapped up their spring '08 fashion week this past Wednesday, October 24th. The event spanned just under one week and focused on Eco-friendly designers, something the city is famous for. The event itself did not generate too much press, which is a shame, because although it isn't the most overproduced or progressive(I think Anna Wintour sat this one out) fashion week on the west coast, there were some cute collections and there was definitely a great cause behind it. The event boasted lines from all over the country, New York, SF, LA and Seattle, but my favorite collection hails from Portland OR itself. Emily Katz debuted her spring collection on Sunday. Her motto is "Sustainable, Elegant, Fashion Forward." The collection is subtle, feminine, wearable and definitely affordable. I visited her small fall collection online and hand picked a few of my favorites.
